What is Searchlight Society?

Searchlight Society is a 501C3 Nonprofit based in Southern California. We are a grassroots organization with the goal of combating homelessness one individual at a time.

What does Searchlight Society do?

Searchlight provides comprehensive case management services to individuals experiencing homelessness with the goal of empowering them out of homelessness. We conduct Outreach and Engagement to encampments as well as individuals who are homeless. In addition we have our Operation Clean Streets Initiative where we provide sanitation services to encampments as well as outreach.

Who pays you/ How do you get money?

Majority of our funds are from private donations, fundraising or even funded by our directors. In addition we do engage in city and county contracts that request our help in providing case management and outreach, however the vast majority of our operations are fundraised by our members.

How is Searchlight Society Different from other non-profits?

Searchlight Society places a strong emphasis on mental health and training. Our staff receive intensive training in mental health including dual diagnosis, substance abuse, trauma informed approach, CPI and De-escalation, The Housing First Model, and Homeless Health Care. In addition, we require our staff to obtain continuing education credits in order to ensure we are providing the best services possible.

Any organization can offer Case Management and Outreach Services, however not all will offer complimentary services to communities out of their service areas.

How can you save our City tax dollars?

When Searchlight engages in contracted work with a city, we outline a budget on what, where and how much money will be spent. In addition, any money not spent gets refunded back to your city. Within our contracts we include wages, admin fees, salaries, resources, and contingency funds. In addition, Searchlight believes that transparency is key in any non-profit organization, therefore Searchlight provides expense reports to the penny on how, why, and where your money was spent. Our Outreach and Case management services can save over 10% on your city's budget due to the reduction in sanitation costs, law enforcement costs, and other costs.
